Tour Pleyel is a skyscraper in the Paris suburb of Saint-Denis . The building, completed in 1973, is 143 m tall,  after the western tower of the Tours Mercuriales in Bagnolet and the eastern tower of the Tours Mercuriales in Bagnolet and the Tour la Villette in Aubervilliers, the second tallest high-rise in the Seine-Saint-Denis department . The building was designed by the architects Bernard Favatier, Pierre Hérault and Marcel Freva. The high-rise offers a floor space of 33,000 m² distributed over 38 floors above ground and 3 underground floors.

The original plans were to build an ensemble of 4 identical high-rise buildings. Ultimately, due to a new urban planning policy and the lack of investors, only the western tower was built.

During the renovation in 1985, a huge rotating and illuminated advertising system from the Bayer AG brand was installed on the roof, increasing the height of the building to 143 meters. In 1997 it was replaced by Philips, in 2006 by Siemens and in 2013 by Kia. This advertising system is visible from afar and can be read from a distance of 3 kilometers, which means that it has the potential to be seen by 1 million people a day in this area. With a length of 34 meters and a height of 5.2 meters, it is the largest rotating advertising system in Europe.

The building was used as an office and residential tower until 2016. It has been extensively rebuilt and renovated since 2016. The construction work should be completed in 2022 and the building should be converted to its new use as a hotel tower with 700 rooms.

With the Carrefour Pleyel metro station and the Stade de France - Saint-Denis train station, the skyscraper is very well connected to public transport in the greater Paris area . Currently, as part of the Grand Paris Express project, the construction of the Saint-Denis - Pleyel metro station is planned, at which metro line trains will stop, creating a new important node in public transport in the north of Paris. Construction on this project started in 2017; the opening is planned for 2024. 13Paris Metro 13.svg D.Paris RER D icon.svg14thParis Metro 14.svg 15thParis Metro 15.svg 16Paris Metro 16.svg 17thParis Metro 17.svg
