Compania Nationala de Transport al Energiei Electrice Transelectrica SA is a state-owned Romanian energy company founded in 2000 and 58.688 percent (as of end of 2014) headquartered in Bucharest , which is controlled and managed by the Romanian Ministry of Economics and Finance and supplies Romania with electricity . The company has been listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange since August 26, 2006 and is a member of the BET 10 share index .

The company was managed by Stelian Gal until 2011 ; Ion-Toni Teau has been Managing Director of the company since May 11, 2014. In 2005 the company had 2156 employees.

Transelectrica is the first state-owned company to be privatized under the government's A Powerful Market program . The Romanian government plans to bring some state-owned companies onto the capital market.
