Transfesa Logistics SA ( Transfesa ) is a Spanish transport and logistics company based in Madrid that specializes in rail and road transport for the automotive industry, among others .

Transfesa was founded in Badajoz in 1943 . The object of business at the time was the transportation of cattle. From 1949 onwards, it transported tropical fruits from Spain to Europe in its own re-trackable refrigerated truck . For this purpose, own systems were built at the border to switch from Spanish broad gauge to European standard gauge . It was thus possible to avoid reloading the sensitive fruit. Further transport services between Spain and Europe followed. The areas of activity have expanded over the years.

In 2013, Transfesa achieved a turnover of around 190 million euros (2006: 290 million euros) with around 1,000 employees (2006: 1200).

In July 2007, Deutsche Bahn bought the majority of this company, which is responsible for the Spanish rail freight company, among others . The share of just over 50 percent cost Deutsche Bahn around 130 million euros.

In 2009, Transfesa was incorporated into the new DB Schenker Rail (now DB Cargo ). Transfesa is a joint venture between DB (70.29%) and the Spanish state railway Renfe .
