Transcription factor IIA

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The transcription factor IIA (TFIIA) is a protein complex in the nucleus of the jaw mouth . TFIIA is part of the pre-initiation complex , which is necessary at the beginning of transcription for the exact positioning of RNA polymerase  II at the beginning of the gene . In particular, TFIIA binds to TFB (part of TFIID) and can thus regulate transcription activity.

TFIIA consists of two subunits of 376 and 109 amino acids in length, the second being older in evolutionary terms and being found even in simple eukaryotes.
