Transvaal Park ( Russian Трансвааль Парк ) was an adventure and leisure pool in Moscow . It was in the Jassenewo district in the southwestern administrative district of the Russian capital.

When the roof structure collapsed on February 14, 2004, the building was destroyed. 28 people, including eight children, were killed. At the time of the collapse, a children's birthday party was being celebrated in the swimming pool. Construction defects were assumed to be the cause of the accident.

The building was built according to plans by the Russian engineer Nodar Kancheli , who was also the architect of the Moscow Basmanny market hall , which collapsed on February 23, 2006 . At the end of 2006, when reconstruction work began on the site, a memorial chapel for the victims of the collapse of the hall was inaugurated. In April 2013, the new Akwapark Moreon was opened on the site .

In 2005, an investigation was initiated against Kantscheli for negligent homicide , but was later discontinued.
