Trap Adventure is a Jump 'n' Run and Adventure - Computer game of Hiroyoshi Oshiba that for iOS and as a browser game was released.

Gameplay

Trap Adventure 2 is a nightmarish and difficult version of the original Super Mario Bros. It has a similar gameplay to Cat Mario and is characterized by the numerous traps in the game. It's mostly a flip screen game, but part of the game also uses vertical scrolling.

As the player runs and tries to overcome obstacles, a series of traps will appear, such as spikes, flames and other booby traps appearing that will kill the player. Once the game character's lives are up, a game over occurs and the player has to start over. It is almost impossible for most players to play and there is a lot of frustration as a result.

Development and publication

Part 1 received little public attention. It wasn't until Part 2 of the game, which was originally released for iOS in 2016 , that the game gained popularity in 2018 .

Due to the level of difficulty, the game is also compared to the games Syobon Action , Cuphead , Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy , Dark Souls and World's Hardest Game . Polygon describes the game as a game for masochists , in the form of an ancient platformer game. The game is usually unfair, absurd and unpredictable, but it also makes it funny.

Kotaku says the reason Trap Adventure 2's sudden popularity was due to a video that was posted on Twitter in January 2018 demonstrates how cruel and hilarious the game can be. This was followed by numerous other videos on YouTube .
