Traumboy is a song by the German singer Miss Menke from 1982, which is attributed to the Neue Deutsche Welle .

Origin and content

The music was written by Harald Gutowski , Miss Menke and Hans-Georg Moslener ; the text is by Harry Gutowski, Miss Menke and Barb Lazy . In the song a girl describes the longing for a certain boy who seems out of reach for her.

Publication and reception

The song was released on Miss Menke's first, self-titled album and also released as a single on Polydor . The single reached number 39 in the German single charts and was placed for 14 weeks. The song appeared on several Neue Deutsche Welle compilations. A 5:43 minute long 12 "maxi was released as an unsalable promotional release.

Miss Menke appeared with the song on November 8, 1982 in the ZDF hit parade , but could not place in the top three. Her planned costume, a wedding dress with a veil, sparked discussions in advance. She was allowed to wear the dress, but not a veil, since the "institution of marriage" should not be denigrated. However, she had attached the veil to the dress during the performance and put it on. She also took out a letter from the cleavage, which also caused criticism.
