Dream content

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As a dream content is in the psychoanalysis of Sigmund Freud all means the,

  1. what has remained in conscious memory of the dreaming after waking up as manifest dream content , be it "understandable or absurd, clear or confused"
  2. what is suspected of latent dream thoughts behind the mere "dream text" of the manifest dream content and thus constitutes the "actual" dream content.

Using the technique of dream interpretation - u. a. of free association - and the theory of dream work , the manifest are transformed into the latent dream contents.
