The Trechirgau (Trechere) was a medieval administrative district. He belonged to the Duchy of Lorraine . Its extent is only roughly known and was roughly in the triangle Enkirch (Mosel), Koblenz and Oberwesel (Rhine).

history

The Trechirgau was closely connected with the Maifeldgau . The main town was in Treis on the Moselle. The district around Treis is known in a document as the Trigorium . The district was administered by counts. The Berthold / Beceline, which became extinct at the end of the 11th century, are proven as counts in Trechirgau. 1112 an Adalbert is mentioned as a count in Trechirgau. The further history of the Trechirgau is unclear. Parts of the Gau appear later and a. owned by the Count Palatine near Rhine , the Counts of Virneburg , the Counts of Sponheim and von Kurtrier .
