Separation (manufacturing technology)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

By separating be in the manufacturing technology , the manufacturing method referred to, in which the workpiece is slightly separated. In addition to a leftover piece, this usually results in chips .

Classification

In the classification of the manufacturing processes according to DIN 8580 , cutting forms the 3rd main group: The DIN ordinal number of the individual cutting processes begins with 3.

  • 3.1 Cutting (DIN 8588): Cutting of material parts without generating shapeless material (chips, powder or the like) by mechanical means . The most important group is shear cutting (punching).

The following two groups are summarized in practice and specialist literature on machining . They are based on the fact that parts in the form of shapeless material ( chips ) are mechanically removed from a workpiece . It is the main group of separation.
