Trerice is an Elizabethan mansion in Kestle Mill near Newquay in Cornwall , England .

history

The Trerice Manor was built in 1573; The client was the fifth Sir John Arundell . There were haunted stories about a descendant who was up to mischief in this house. The manor house was owned by the family for over 400 years until 1802 and was then taken over by the Acland family, who lived in Killerton House in Devon until 1915. After several other changes of ownership, it became the property of the National Trust in 1953 .

The mansion, restored by the National Trust, is surrounded by manicured flower gardens and orchards. In keeping with the times, the floor plan of the building with five gables in the Dutch style is E-shaped, with an entrance porch in the middle and two short, protruding side wings. The large windows, divided vertically and horizontally in a variety of ways, are also typical. The interior of the house is characterized by beautiful fireplace places and artistically structured ceilings; the current furnishings are from the 17th and 18th centuries.
