Career

Left-handed Trevor Taylor began playing table tennis in Letchworth Garden City . Already in 1964 one noticed the successful talent. In 1965 he was named Boy of the Year .

At the English National Adult Championships in 1972 and 1973 he won the singles title, in doubles he won in 1971 with Chester Barnes , 1973 with Denis Neale and again in 2005 with Alex Perry.

Taylor was most successful internationally at the Commonwealth Championships of 1971, 1973 and 1975, where he won eight gold medals: each time he won both the singles and the team competition, and he also won twice in doubles, namely in 1971 with Alan Hydes and in 1973 with Denis Neale .

From 1969 to 1975 he was nominated for all four world championships . In 1969 he achieved his best result with sixth place in the team competition. There was a scandal at the 1973 World Cup .
