Trezza Azzopardi
Trezza Azzopardi (* 1961 in Cardiff , Wales ) is a British writer .
Life
Trezza Azzopardi is the daughter of a Maltese and a Welsh woman. She studied creative writing at the University of East Anglia and then film and television studies at the University of Derby . She made her debut as a writer with The Hiding Place in 2000. She received shortlist nominations for the Booker Prize , the James Tait Black Memorial Prize, and was awarded the Geoffrey Faber Memorial Prize . In the same year the book was published in a translation by Monika Schmalz under the title Das Versteck in Berlin Verlag . Her books have been translated into a total of 17 languages.
Azzopardi currently lives in the east English university city of Norwich , where she teaches creative writing at the University of East Anglia.
