Tri-Cities (Washington)
Tri-Cities is adjacent from the three cities Kennewick , Richland and Pasco existing metropolitan region in the southeast of the US -amerikanischen state of Washington .
The metropolitan area with a total of 253,340 inhabitants is located at the confluence of the Columbia River , Snake River and Yakima River . Pasco is the county seat of Franklin County . The other two cities belong to Benton County . The region has an airport located in Pasco, the Tri-Cities Airport. The largest employer in the region since the 1940s, the Department of Energy assumed Hanford Site , formerly plutonium production that now - and for a long time - mainly engaged in environmental remediation. Agriculture , cattle breeding and viticulture are also of economic importance .
