TricKINO is a moderated online platform for children and young people that playfully imparts knowledge from the areas of graphics, animation and film production. On the website, users can watch cartoons for free , create their own cartoons with software and publish them. The interactive website has been online since 2011 and was designed and implemented by the KIDS interactive agency. The project was supported by the funding program Ein Netz für Kinder of the German federal government .
The website
TricKINO is a German-language website that was developed for children and young people aged 8 and over. It consists of three interlinked areas: the info part, the community and the website-related software animation studio .
In the information section, users can acquire practical tips on creating digital animated films, an animated film lexicon and a wealth of background information on all aspects of animation and film. Didactically, the website is geared towards learning through discovery and aims to promote media skills in addition to subject-specific knowledge transfer.
Community
In order to be active in the TricKINO community, registration on the website is required. Parents will then be informed by email about their children's registration and can object to the registration.
If the user is registered, he can create a profile and exchange ideas with other TricKINO users via the community. Self-made videos can be uploaded and published and viewed, rated and commented on on the website. Materials created for the film, such as elements, backgrounds, etc., can also be released for download to other users in the community so that the content can be used further. Registered users can also make friends with each other and build a social network . The editorial team of KIDS interactive will take care of the post-moderation and dubious content will be removed.
Create and set videos
Only videos and materials that have been created with the free Trickfilm-Studio software can be loaded onto the platform . The software was specially developed for TricKINO and can be downloaded from the website and used offline. The laying trick in the software is used to create the animation . Animation studio consists of a drawing, animation and sound studio. With the help of the software, users can create graphics, animate them, set them to music and have them output as videos. Age-appropriate tutorial videos, detailed help functions and step-by-step instructions can be accessed at any time.
Awards
TricKINO has already received several awards: In 2012, the website and the associated software were nominated for the TOMMI children's software award in the PC and online games category. One year later, the TricKINO inventors and developers from KIDS interactive received the German educational media award 2013, the digita , in the category general education - primary school. In 2014, the website received the Erfurt Netcode seal of quality for an outstandingly positive offer. And in 2015 TricKINO was awarded the EMIL , the prize for good children's television, in the category of best website.
