Emil (Children's TV Award)

The Emil is a German children's television prize that has been awarded annually by the TV Spielfilm magazine since 1995 . It honors outstanding children's and youth TV productions as well as feature films that were broadcast for the first time on German-language television.

Attendees

Once a year the magazine calls on television stations, producers, directors and authors to send in their best programs. Both self-produced and licensed programs of all genres can be nominated.

A jury made up of media educators and critics sifts through the submitted contributions and awards the Emil to the best (at the beginning also alternatively with an honorable mention). The number of awards varies and is determined every year after the last jury meeting. The Emil is not endowed, so the winners do not receive any prize money.

The prize was named after the children's book Emil and the Detectives by Erich Kästner .
