occupation

Winnetous Sohn is a German comedy film by André Erkau from 2015. The film was made as part of the “The Special Children's Film” funding initiative in 2013/2014 and is based on a script by the two writers Brinx / Kömmerling . In the film, a chubby ten-year-old competes against all odds at the Karl May Festival for the role of Winnetou’s son. The German theatrical release was on April 9, 2015.

action

Confident, overweight Max is an Indian at heart. When he learns that the Karl May Festival in Wolfitz City is looking for an actor for Winnetou's son, he is firmly convinced that he is the right person for the role. Max bets Morten that he will manage to take part in the casting. If he succeeds, Morten will have to train with him.

Max is actually approved for casting and has twelve days to prepare for the role. In addition to the text to be memorized, he must become more agile and learn to ride. His father Torsten helps him with this. Although Torsten cannot be relied on and Max's mother only has eyes for her new boyfriend, Max knows that he will get the role. He also aims to bring his parents back together.

background

The film was produced by Kinderfilm , ZDF and KiKA and funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media , Central German Media Funding , the Film Funding Agency and the German Film Funding Fund . The shooting took place in August and September 2014 in 32 days in Saxony-Anhalt and Schleswig-Holstein .

reception

The film service ruled that the “beautifully conceived children's film” relies “entirely on its comedic elements”, but “neglects the characters that tend to remain pale”. In addition, the staging would only implement the story "moderately exciting". The film magazine epd Film , however, was of the opinion that Erkau had implemented the script "very close to life". Both child actors are "absolutely believable", especially Lorenzo Germeno in the role of Max gives "his character great closeness".
