Gary Marlowe

Gary Marlowe (born March 7, 1967 in Berlin ) is a German musician , composer and producer .

Life

Gary Marlowe began playing the piano at the age of four. In the 1980s he became a professional studio musician for keyboards and soon began working as a music producer. He studied composition for film with Luis Bacalov and Nicola Piovani at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena , Italy. He works in Bavaria and Berlin as well as in Italy and Los Angeles.

Musician, composer and producer

Gary Marlowe is a multi-instrumentalist and plays the piano, keyboards, synthesizers, organ, guitar, drums, bass, buzuk, saz, oud, flutes and percussion, among others. He is also a singer. He works mainly for film, television and advertising.

Marlowe has been involved in many phonogram releases and has had several top ten chart placements, including a number one hit. He worked with artists like Ten Years After , Rage, Jam & Spoon and comedians like Diether Krebs , Dieter Hallervorden and Frank Zander . Further collaborations existed with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Trieste, the cellist Tiziana Gasparoni, Cecil Remmler , Laura Bee, Alessandro de Crescenzo and others. In 2012, Gary Marlowe worked with Nine Inch Nails and Moby on the music for a UNESCO web series . He has his own recording studio in Schleching , Bavaria.

As a studio musician, he worked for Sofi de la Torre and WIZO, among others .

In 2018 he was awarded the title Steinway Artist .

Marlowe lectures as a lecturer at various universities, such as for the SAE School of Audio Engineering . He is a Berlinale Talent Alumnus , member of the World Soundtrack Academy and the European Film Academy .

Installations

Gary Marlowe developed the concept of “aural frames” as an ambient music installation for indoor and outdoor spaces, often in collaboration with painters, sculptors or video artists. Among other things, it was shown at the Biennale di Venezia for an exhibition by Richard Nonas and in the Venetian cultural agency scatolabianca as a solo exhibition under the title “requiem | repeat ”implemented in collaboration with Gianni Moretti .
