The last edition of Tabaluga tivi sealed the figure Tabaluga with the following quote from Erich Kästner : "Only those who grow up and remain a child are human."

description

The focus of the program was on games. Two teams in yellow and red, each consisting of two children, competed against each other in five game rounds (until 2003: three game rounds). Action, skill and knowledge games alternated. The four candidates collected lucky points during the game rounds (from 2003), which were converted into a sum of money at the end of the program and donated to a good cause. The children have determined the donation goal themselves beforehand. From 1997 to 2003 the candidates played for the Golden Tabaluga and for money for the class fund.

Since the broadcast started on October 4, 1997, the final “Arktos Super Game” has been an integral part of the program. It was a matter of memorizing a path given by points of light on the floor after the marking had gone out. For years there was the in the first round second Quiz . This was replaced in 2003 by the friendship box , which was replaced by Wortball in 2008 . In addition to the game rounds, Tabaluga tivi also included info films, the comedy format An animal-like great house and music acts in the studio. Until 2006, two series were broadcast over the course of the show:

The program was produced by the Munich production company MingaMedia on behalf of ZDFtivi and recorded in the Bavaria Studios in Unterföhring near Munich . On October 13, 2007, the show celebrated the show's tenth anniversary with a major special broadcast to which Tabaluga co-inventor Peter Maffay was invited.

In 2007 the 500th episode was broadcast. Tabaluga tivi has developed further. The decoration of the studio changed several times and the moderators changed. Tabaluga has been broadcasting tivi in 16: 9 format since October 13, 2007 .

Over the years the studio had changed again and again. Between 1997 and 2000 there was the so-called grassland studio. It was then converted into a red and black studio. This studio continued to own the ice floe field. A couch was also integrated, but this was abolished in 2003. In 2008 the studio was again converted into a modern studio. A new element in the studio was the so-called "command bridge", on which the studio technicians found space.

On February 15, 2011 it was announced that the show would end after exactly 652 issues in 14 years. On May 7, 2011, Tabaluga tivi was initially discontinued for cost reasons in order to create the “space for new and innovative entertainment formats”, but Tabaluga was retained in the ZDF children's program: In the same year, ZDF produced the series Der goldene Tabaluga - On your places , help, go! , in which social projects were accompanied by young people (broadcast: November 14th to 25th, 2011 on KiKA ).

Since 2013, the golden tabaluga has appeared annually as a sequel in a series that is produced for KiKA:

  • We rock Barcelona - The golden Tabaluga 2013 (October 21st to 31st, 2013)
  • Take-off: The golden Tabaluga 2014 (November 3rd to 13th, 2014)
  • Hero without Money - The Golden Tabaluga 2015 (October 5th to 15th, 2015)

  • City, Country, Bus - The Golden Tabaluga 2017 (November 6th to 16th, 2017)
  • Digiclash: The Generation Contest (September 10-20 , 2018)

From December 1 to 24, 2015, the Tabaluga Advent Calendar , which was broadcast on KiKA, presented people who helped others through their special commitment and were awarded the golden Tabaluga for this. The concept is the same as for the Tabaluga tivi section at that time, “The gift of happiness” (see below).

From May 8, 2010 the new family show started on ZDFtivi at Tabaluga tivi 4 against Arktos . It was moderated by Simone Reuthal. The protagonist was Arktos, the dark snowman and archenemy of Tabaluga. A family of four had to collect as many seconds as possible for the Arktos super game in five game rounds. There were action games, an assessment game and a quiz game about the episode of the animal great house shown. In addition, the families had to solve three incredibly nasty tasks in the run-up to the show, in which they could also collect bonus seconds. The Arktos super game was made more difficult by five so-called "Quelixes", three of which could be played away in the game rounds. The " strobe shocker" created a strobe effect during the game. The "path fatal" indicated the way backwards. "Disco-Flicker" created light effects on the ice floe field. Ground fog was created by “super smog” . In the "snow attack", Arktos fired at the candidates with artificial snow. If they won, the families won a cash prize of 2,500 euros. The consolation prize was a visit to the ice cream parlor worth 100 euros. No new episodes were produced for the show in 2011.

technology

The characters Tabaluga and Arktos were realized with so-called full-body figures. These basically represented a combination of the costumes customary for mascots ( walking acts ) and the so-called " animatronic ". Two actors were in the costumes who were responsible for the gestures of the characters. The facial expressions were created using a complicated mechanism inside the heads. The facial expressions were controlled via a remote control by the two speakers of the characters who stood outside the set (later they could sometimes also be seen on the so-called command center).

Arktos was spoken and directed by Ron Bergmann, the show's chief writer, while Tabaluga was given the voice of Robert Rebele , who also designed and developed all the characters.

Happy was a snap-mouth doll, whose technique was similar to the muppets, James was portrayed by the mime Sebastian Derksen.
