reception

The episode 223 Malvina, Diaa and Love , broadcast in November 2017 , was scandalized at the beginning of January 2018, especially in the context of the right-wing populist AfD, because of an alleged trivialization of Islamic ideology and then received some media attention. According to the FAZ , the “precise and intimate documentation” is “impressive” and “inherently convincing”, but it has a “fundamental problem” because the broadcaster failed to properly classify it. Media educators, on the other hand, contradicted the view that young people could misunderstand the film. The couple from the documentary has been under police protection since January 14, 2018 after both were massively threatened on the Internet.

According to the FAZ , KiKA had never experienced such a controversy as the one about the article "Malvina, Diaa and love". The debate also received attention in international media such as the Irish Times , the Italian Corriere Della Sera and the right-wing populist US Internet portal Breitbart News .
