Martin Reinl (born October 15, 1975 in Mainz ) is a German stand-up comedian , voice actor , puppeteer , author and director .

Career

Reinl first studied communication design at the Wiesbaden University of Applied Sciences in 1996 and switched to the Audiovisual Media course in Cologne in 1997 . From 1996 he made his first comedy appearances on the stage. After continuing his studies in Cologne, he presented his first stage program The chewing gum dwarf returns, among others in the Cologne living room theater.

In the following years, other programs and appearances were added, for example on RTL II , ProSieben and on WDR television . In 1998 his hand puppet Wiwaldi stepped into the limelight of the comedy world for the first time. Reinl released his first CD in 1999: Beep! 999 answering machine messages . In 2000 Reinl attended the Cologne Comedy School , in 2002 he successfully completed his studies at the Art Academy for Media Cologne .

From 2002 until the end of the show in 2016, Reinl was free with his dolls at Zimmer! to be seen on WDR television. Initially it was still his “demanding roles”, but in later years he appeared with the self-made doll Wiwaldi , a dog with a cheeky mouth, in the celebrity talk part of the program, often accompanied by other dolls created by Reinl. These included u. a. the old former circus horse Horst-Pferdinand . He likes to interview celebrities with him, but also appears in shows, for example in 5 gegen Jauch on RTL .

Martin Reinl is also behind the two puppets Peb and Pebber ( Toggo TV ) on Super RTL (Platform Nutrition and Movement eV). For the design of the series Peb and Pebber he received a special award on June 22, 2008 as part of the Munich Film Festival , the White Elephant .

In addition, Reinl is responsible for the hazel squirrel on Super RTL (from April 2009 as a separate broadcast format). In 2009 he received the Emil 2009 from the magazine TV Spielfilm for good children's television for Hasel Potter from the series Haselhörnchen . The recognition goes to him above all as the doll father who invents, builds, speaks and plays these television heroes.

Until 2010, Reinl was also represented on Sat.1 in the late night show Die Oliver Pocher Show with two cheeky babies ( Kalle and Ralle ), who stood up to the presenter Oliver Pocher when he was presented. Since 2011 his character Benno Benz has complemented the Auto Mobil program on VOX .

Reinl also synchronizes cartoons (including Mr. Bean in the animated version), films and computer games. In 2007 he and Ramona Schukraft celebrated the premiere of the joint stage show To the point, doll , a mixture of stand-up comedy and puppet show. He is also a regular guest at NightWash and can be seen live at the Quatsch Comedy Club in Berlin and Hamburg.

As the creative mind, Reinl was behind the pilot format. Cuddled up! The Puppen-WG , which was broadcast by ZDFneo as part of the TVLab 2011 . This is a puppet comedy in which formerly prominent cuddly toys are looking for their way back into the limelight.

From 2012 to 2016 the WDR gave its most famous doll its own show, Die Wiwaldi Show . A total of 31 episodes were produced. The first 3 seasons were broadcast on Sunday evening on WDR, seasons 4 and 5 had their first broadcast on ARD. The Wiwaldi Show was a co-production by Endemol , bigSmileEntertainment GmbH and WDR. Apart from celebrities and the audience, only dolls can be seen in the program. The Wiwaldi Show was nominated for the Grimme Prize in the entertainment category in 2013.

From 2008 Reinl took over individual figures in Sesame Street . In 2012, the broadcasting concept of Sesame Street was revised, since then the character Elmo played by Reinl has been leading through the broadcast. Since 2015 he has also played and spoken the character Grobi for the German edition of Sesame Street . In "A carrot for two" and in Sesame Street Sketches he plays and synchronizes the "grouchy" wolf.

Reinl has been responsible for the characters Jan & Henry since 2013 , who can be seen weekly in the Sandman and since 2017 in their own crime series A Fall for the Meerkats . The adventures of the two meerkat brothers, which he plays with his colleague Carsten Morar-Haffke, have also been published as books and DVDs, have already been nominated for the Grimme Prize and were awarded the Emil Children's Media Prize in 2014 and the Golden Spatz in 2019 .

Reinl has been the puppeteer of the character Woozle Goozle in the television series of the same name on Super RTL since 2013 . Since 2015 he has been producing the blog about the little girl for the children's magazine Timster , in which a monster girl character deals with topics from the media world every week. Since 2016 he has been a juror in the RTL program Die Puppenstars .

Together with his puppeteer colleague Carsten Morar-Haffke, Reinl is all year round with the puppet improv show Pfoten hoch! on tour. He lives in Cologne and is the managing director of his company bigSmile Entertainment GmbH .
