Die Puppenstars is a German casting show that was broadcast on RTL's main evening program from January 2016 to February 2017 . The show was moderated by Mirja Boes and, more or less, by the doll Miss Izzy. The show is the German adaptation of the Dutch Popster format , based on an idea by John de Mol . It is also the first casting format on German television for puppeteers and puppet theater .
concept
In preliminary round shows, the puppeteers compete solo, in a duet or as a group with a wide variety of puppets for a ticket for the final. The three jury members award a red or green star for each entry. While three green stars in the first season were already equivalent to reaching the finals, this concept was revised in the second season. The candidates still need three green stars to advance to the next round, but the jury will only decide who can appear in the final after the three preliminary round shows. A more objective assessment should then be possible. In addition, since the second season every member of the jury and also the cockroach can award a "Golden Ticket" with which the artists can reach the final.
In the final, the actors selected by the jury compete against each other with a new entry. Each member of the jury and the studio audience award up to 10 points each. At the end there is prize money of 50,000 euros (1st place), 25,000 euros (2nd place) and 10,000 euros (3rd place).
Other puppets appear in regular skits, for example Wiwaldi, Traudl or the old circus horse Horst-Pferdinand. They are usually played by Martin Reinl .
