Trichocera hiemalis is a two-winged fly fromthe winter mosquito family (Trichoceridae).
features
The flies are 4 to 4.5 millimeters long, with wings averaging 6.2 millimeters in length. These are transparent. The head and the mesonotum are brown, on them three narrow, light, poorly recognizable longitudinal lines are formed. The legs are brownish, but darker distally. In the case of the holders , the style is light and the head is colored dark. The abdomen is a solid gray-brown color. The body hair is whitish. In the wings the transverse artery tp lies almost exactly below the terminating artery of the discoidal cell. The basal part of the fork r2 + 3 is longer than the section of the wing vein R2 up to the cross vein.
Occurrence and way of life
The animals are common and common in Europe and North Africa. They colonize forests.
