Trident Autocrat is Furze's first album . It was released in 2000 by Apocalyptic Empire Records and was re-released by Candlelight Records in 2006 .

Music genre

According to Northcraft from Bloodchamber.de, Trident Autocrat sounds "like a completely undisturbed, instinctively guided and above all both fast and production-free recorded oldschool BM record that doesn't care about anything or anyone thanks to childlike carelessness", with "crazy riffs with which." you can see a preference for strange structures and concluding hammer on / pull off embellishments ”, and an“ extremely crazy ”singing,“ which ranges from hissing and breathing to the stammering quack that sounds like an old lady ”. Particularly noticeable is "the strong accent which, in combination with the poor knowledge of English and the really extraordinary voice, almost sounds like a new, unheard language". There are "extreme production differences between the individual songs and even within the songs".

Emergence

Trident Autocrat was originally scheduled to appear in 1999. Due to difficulties with a guitarist who disappeared after the recordings, Woe J. Reaper had to make some recordings again in 2000.

In 2006 a CD re-release was released. The slipcase version has an additional finale that is around four minutes long. This is “not really a separate piece, but rather a conclusion of the previous pieces. That is actually his only goal. "

reception

Northcraft wrote about Trident Autocrat : "What at first seems a bit amusing due to the slightly egocentric and self-confident Reaper trademark that seems to be present everywhere on the album, turns out to be uncompromising, any criticism, ' autocratic ' work, whose right to exist lies in its nature. Who can still find time today, as a lone writer, after a few clumsy attempts, for inspirational reasons, to withdraw into the solitude of the Norwegian forests for three years, in order to then get rid of the collected thoughts in a musical effusion? This man has done it and with his idiosyncratic tour recently even got a record deal with - for black metal conditions - the major label Candlelight . "Although the" experiment with the loneliness of the forest serving as a muse may even be the dream of many devoted musicians ", it is questionable "whether the listener benefits as much from it as the reaper himself". There is "never a special feeling". The strong accent, which "almost sounds like a new, unheard language", must "in fact even be rated as a positive point". In the short run through the game “you are a constant pros and cons. Sometimes there are really usable, pleasant and groovy parts, especially in the advanced course of the CD, but immediately afterwards you feel like a lousy band rehearsal of rebellious teenagers. "The extreme production differences" unfortunately very often had a negative effect on the slightly better ideas " and the occasional "thump" in the "consistent bass abstinence" leads to "considerable confusion on the part of the listener". It has "never been so difficult for him [...] to determine an appropriate rating". On the one hand, he is enthusiastic about “the crazy, somewhat conceptless concept and the making of the album”, but on the other hand he has to admit that “realistically speaking, he will probably never hear this record again in my life”, which is where the album comes from Scoring follow. Northcraft awarded three out of ten points.

The German magazine Rock Hard took Trident Autocrat in the list of "250 black metal albums, should know the man" on.
