Trincheras is a village in the Mexican state of Sonora with 1,166 inhabitants (2010). The village is located in the northwest of Sonora between Santa Ana , Benjamín Hill and Altar . Trincheras is the seat of the Municipio Trincheras of the same name .
Trincheras is known, among other things, for the cultivation of amaranth .
history
Trincheras emerged at the beginning of the 20th century as a settlement for gold prospectors. On April 28, 1916, it received parish rights. In the years 1930-1934 it belonged to the neighboring Pitiquito.
population
The population, which in 1980 was over 2,000, is now steadily decreasing. Today, 62% of the population work in the primary sector, 13% in the secondary and 24% in the tertiary sector.
Infrastructure
The place has nine schools with 424 students (2001). 90 percent of the population are connected to the electricity network.
