The Trinidad and Tobago Newsday , commonly abbreviated as Trinidad Newsday, is the youngest of the currently three daily newspapers in Trinidad and Tobago . The newspaper was founded in 1993 by Daniel Chookolingo. The Newsday describes itself as a "people's newspaper".
In addition to its headquarters in Port of Spain , the newspaper has branch offices in Chaguanas , San Fernando and Scarborough .
Format and style
The Trinidad Newsday is the only daily newspaper in Trinidad and Tobago whose publisher has no direct connection to radio and television. The reporting covers all areas of life (e.g. economy, sport, regional affairs, politics).
history
The daily newspaper was founded on September 20, 1993 by Daniel Chookolingo. The first editor-in-chief was Therese Mills, who, like the leading journalist Kris Rampersad, previously worked for the Trinidad Guardian . Rampersad won several awards. Newsday became one of the largest newspapers in the country within four years , despite having two well-established national newspapers, the Express and the Guardian .
In 2010 Newsday began printing copies of USA Today International . Since then, the US partner has also provided some news from the US for the Trinidad Newsday .
