Trio Soli Sono

The Trio Soli Sono is a transverse flute ensemble with instruments from piccolo to bass flute. The ensemble is dedicated to the interpretation and performance of flute trios from baroque to new music with an emphasis on original literature. In addition to the conventional concerts, the trio developed musical and scenic presentations with costumes, literary and musical performances with actors and storytellers as well as joint venture projects with other musicians and ensembles, including those from the fields of jazz and improvised music.

biography

The Trio Soli Sono was founded in 1992 by Natalie Becker, Johanna Daske and Olaf Futyma and has remained unchanged to this day. The first tour took the newly founded ensemble to Poland. Since then Trio Soli Sono has given concerts in many European countries, in South America and Southeast Asia. The concert tours accompanied interpretation courses as well as workshops on contemporary playing techniques and triplet literature. a. were attended by members of the Quito National Symphony Orchestra, the La Paz National Symphony Orchestra and pupils and students from the Franz Liszt Conservatory in La Paz. The ensemble has been to music festivals such as Warsaw Autumn, Musica Polonica Nova Breslau, European Flute Festival Frankfurt a. M., Düsseldorf Old Town Autumn, Rhenish Music Festival, Music Biennale Rotterdam, New Music Days Lüneburg. The three flautists played as German cultural representatives at the invitation of the German embassies in Paris (Aachen Day in Paris), Jakarta (Day of German Unity), Quito and La Paz.

In 2011 Trio Soli Sono was invited to the opening concert of the Kontem Ucha concert series at the Artur Rubinstein Philharmonic, Łódź in Poland. At international chamber music competitions in Italy, the trio won the "Premio Rovere d'Oro" and was awarded at the "Franz Schubert Music Competition". The ensemble played CDs mainly with first recordings: “Music for three flutes”, “from bach to african groove” for LUX and “Medusa” for DUX. Live performances, interviews and recordings of the trio were broadcast by television and radio stations such as WDR, Sender Freies Berlin, Deutschlandradio Kultur, Polskie Radio II, Red Uno La Paz and Radio Quito.

Trio Soli Sono inspired many composers to write works for this line-up. Some compositions were created in close collaboration with the ensemble and dedicated to it. Today the trio can look back on almost 40 world premieres and has thus contributed to the expansion of the repertoire for three flutes.
