Giulio Macchi

Giulio Macchi (born October 1, 1918 in Cantù , † March 28, 2009 in Rome ) was an Italian film director and television producer.

Life

From 1948 to 1953, Macchi worked as an assistant director and screenwriter for a number of important filmmakers such as Luigi Comencini , Luciano Emmer and Jean Renoir and, in addition to making documentaries, from 1954 onwards also made a few films with storylines under his own direction, creating moderate works in both areas like his Fantastic India , his comedy Montecarlo, or his contributions to two episode films at the beginning of the 1960s. From 1962 he turned completely to television, for which he had worked since 1957 and in which he was responsible for documentary formats and academic contributions. Under his leadership, programs such as Viaggio intorno al cervello , Orizzonti della scienza e alla tecnica , which was broadcast from 1966 to 1973, or Habitat were created .
