The Trioplan by Hugo Meyer or Meyer-Optik from Görlitz is a camera lens that was developed on the basis of the Cooke triplet .

The first version of the objective consisting of three non-cemented lenses was presented in 1916. The angle of view was around 24 °. A good lens correction could thus be achieved with a manageable amount of effort. The light intensity was also relatively high. The length of the lens corresponded roughly to the focal length .

The Trioplan was one of Meyer's most popular lenses due to its low price and acceptable quality. The lenses manufactured up to 1963 only have a single compensation. Thus, they are more susceptible to back light, stray light and high contrasts than today's multi-coated lenses. The central image sharpness is already very good with the aperture open. Trioplane, with almost the same maximum aperture and focal length, were only about half as expensive as a - albeit four-lens - Tessar .

Trioplane were offered as interchangeable lenses for the Exakta Varex / EXA bayonet system and for the M42 thread as well as for the Altix from Altissa . It was also used as a fixed lens on compact cameras from the 1950s and 1960s (e.g. the Beirette Junior II etc.).

After 1963, the Trioplan was replaced by the three -lens , but multi-paid Domiplan from Meyer-Optik .
