Tris (pyrazolyl) borate

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tris (pyrazolyl) borates ( also known as tripyrazolylboranates and abbreviated as Tp ) are salts with anions of the formula BH (N 2 C 3 H 3 ) 3 - . The tris (pyrazolyl) borate ion is a ligand in modern complex chemistry . As a 6-electron donor, it has similarities with the cyclopentadienyl anion. However, it takes up significantly more space and is a stronger electron donor .

structure

Structure of the tris (pyrazole) borate anion

Three pyrazole rings are bound with their nitrogen atoms to a central boron atom, which also bears an additional hydrogen atom . The second nitrogen atom of each pyrazole ring is available for complex formation. Tp is thus a 3-dentate 6-electron donor.
