Trond Helleland (born July 10, 1962 in Kvam ) is a Norwegian politician of the conservative party Høyre . Since October 2013 he has been chairman of the Høyre group in the Norwegian parliament in Storting .

Life

Helleland served as the board of the youth party Unge Høyre between 1986 and 1988 . In 1989 Helleland graduated from Oslo University with a degree in Political Science, History and Public Law . In the same year he served as political secretary of the Høyre party in what was then the province of Buskerud , from 1990 to 1998 he was chairman there. In 1994 he worked as an advisor to the Høyre Group in Storting for EU political affairs. From 1995 he worked as a consultant to the County Council Buskerud. From 1995 to 1999 he was a member of the local parliament of Drammen , before that from 1987 to 1995 he was a member of the Fylkesting of Buskerud.

Helleland first moved into the Norwegian national parliament in Storting in 1997. He managed to move in for Buskerud and since then he has consistently represented this constituency. From 2001 to 2005 he was chairman of the judiciary committee. Helleland has been a member of the parliamentary committee of the Høyre group in Storting since October 2009, and has been the parliamentary leader of his party since October 17, 2013.

He is married to the Høyre politician Linda Hofstad Helleland .
