Trotec GmbH was founded in 1997 as a subsidiary of the former Trodat Holding (today Trodat Trotec Holding GmbH). It developed from a research branch of Trodat GmbH, in which laser devices are designed for engraving rubber stamp text plates.
Through a growth strategy based on the development of new markets (see product-market matrix ) and an expansion of the range of laser devices, Trotec was able to increase the number of employees to 540, who work in numerous branches around the world. Based on its own information, Trotec GmbH is the largest manufacturer of laser devices worldwide based on the number of units sold (as of 2017).
The name Trotec
The company name (company) Trotec is derived from the name of the sister company Trodat . Trotec is made up of the syllables Tro and Tec . Tro stands for Trolitul - a plastic that was used to manufacture stamps at the beginning of the 20th century - and tec stands for the development of technical products.
