The Trout Lake (German: Forellensee ) is a former lake about 1.5 kilometers northwest of the town of the same name Lake Trout in Klickitat County , in the southern US state of Washington , in the United States . The lake, largely dried out in the 1970s, is just east of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest and southwest of Mount Adams Forest Camp . Today it is a moorland. West of the lake, Trout Lake Creek runs southeast to the White Salmon River , a tributary of the Columbia River .

The moorland is a preferred spawning area for the western spotted frog ( English: Oregon Spotted Frog ( Rana pretiosa )).
