The Trynøyane (Norwegian for Snout Islands ) are a group of small islands and reef rocks off the coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth Land . They extend over a length of 6 km and form the western edge of the Trynevika Bay and the Tryne Sound at the northeastern end of the Vestfold Mountains .
Norwegian cartographers, who also named them, mapped them using aerial photographs taken during the Lars Christensen expedition in 1936/37 .
