Philipp Cuno Christian von Bassewitz
Philipp Cuno Christian von Bassewitz (born October 5, 1722 in Lühburg ; † May 12, 1769 in Woltow ) was a privy councilor and court marshal in the Principality of Bayreuth and chief director of the margravial opera .

He came from the Wendish, today counts, line of the old Mecklenburg family Bassewitz . His parents were conference councilor Ludolph Friedrich von Bassewitz and Sibilla von Bassewitz, a sister of Henning Friedrich von Bassewitz . His brothers were Joachim Ludolf von Bassewitz and Henning Adam von Bassewitz .
Live and act
On December 1, 1738, he enrolled for the winter semester at the University of Rostock . He married a woman from Preen . With her he had at least one daughter who was married to the Dutch general Kurt Heinrich Graf von Callenberg . In addition to the Mecklenburg estates Duckwitz and Woltow, he owned the Kunkellehen Kowalz and Repnitz . The latter was sold by his wife after his feudal cousins paid off.
In 1745 he went to Bayreuth as chamberlain to Margravine Wilhelmine (1709–1758) . There he held the offices of castle captain , court marshal , thigh and envoy at the Reichstag in Regensburg . On March 15, 1761, Margrave Friedrich appointed him privy councilor . As chief director of the margravial opera, he created a contemporary German adaptation of the opera L'Huomo by Margravine Wilhelmine (French libretto), which was performed in 1754 on the occasion of Frederick the Great's visit to Bayreuth . He was the bearer of the Grand Cross of the Red Eagle Order . In addition, in 1755 in Mecklenburg, as the owner of Woltow, he was one of the signatories of the Land Constitutional Compensation of Heredities .
