Tsambyn Dandsan ( Mongolian Цамбын Данзан ; born January 29, 1945 ) is a former Mongolian biathlete .

As one of four Mongols, Dandsan took part in the Olympic biathlon race in Seefeld in Tyrol in 1964 at the age of 18 as the youngest athlete . He started as the eighth biathlete, making him the first Asian to take part in an Olympic biathlon competition. He hit only five out of 20 targets in the competition and also achieved the second worst running time, so that in the end he finished 49th and last place. Because of this striking placement - and because of the "exotic role" of the Mongols, who first took part in the Winter Games in 1964 - Dandsan found anecdotal mention in some Olympic reports. The trade journal Olympisches Feuer wrote, for example: “The steppe horse seemed to be missing between his short saber legs when he was about to start skiing. His leather-like, hard face, his black, nimble-looking eyes awakened the memory of old history ... With short steps, without hurry, he stumbled into the long lane. The skis on his feet seemed to bother him. "
