Tschagos Creole (also Kreol Ilois or just Ilois ) is a Creole language based on French, which is spoken by the approx. 3000 Chagossians , the former inhabitants of the Tschagos archipelago . It originated around 1900 on the isolated archipelago. Currently it is mainly spoken in Mauritius and the Seychelles . There is also a small group of speakers in the UK .
