The Czech Center Munich ( České centrum Mnichov ) is part of the network of Czech Centers that operate abroad on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic . It serves for the public perception of the Czech Republic in the areas of culture, education, trade and tourism. In Germany there are also two other Czech centers in Berlin and Düsseldorf .

history

The organization was founded in 1999. As co-organizers of events, institutions with a regular audience of all ages were won across the spectrum of opinion. A year later, the cultural institute in Munich moved into premises at Prinzregentenstrasse 7 in the former building of the Bavarian State Chancellery. The newly designed event hall and offices were inaugurated on October 4, 2000 by Libuše Benešová, Chairwoman of the Senate of the Czech Republic .

activity

Since then, exhibitions, readings, discussions and concerts from all branches of art have taken place here. In addition, Czech films - with German or English subtitles - are shown regularly in cooperation with a Munich cinema.

The cultural institute in Munich works with the official bodies in southern Germany, with associations and foundations as well as with cultural, scientific and educational institutions. It continues to support the activities of the Czech "School without Frontiers".
