description
A Chukchi Armor is a version of the Koryak Armor . It consists essentially of the same materials as these and also has almost the same structure. The biggest difference, however, is that it does not have bone armor, but is made entirely of leather. Instead of bones, the Chukchi armor has a kind of ring-shaped skirt made of seal skin . The leather is stretched onto a round frame made of wood or bone and tied with leather strips. The seven rings grow larger from the hips to the feet. The back shield is made up of several parts instead of a large piece of leather, as is the case with Koryak armor, and the ends are angular instead of rounded. It is also used to repel spears , arrows and other projectiles. Since the leather rings are flexible, the bullets lose their penetration power.
