Peter Tsepo Masilela (born May 5, 1985 in Witbank ) is a South African football player . The defender has been under contract with South African club Kaizer Chiefs since 2012 .

Career

Masilesa played Benoni Premier United in the first division from the 2004/05 season . This was preceded by an exchange of league places with the bankrupt first division club Hellenic FC . Masilela, previously a Hellenic player, was subsequently taken over from the club's bankruptcy estate by the newly formed first division club Benoni. The team at the bottom of the table fought relegation for 14 game days, but ultimately missed relegation by two points. Two years later, the ascent was achieved in a sporting way. In the summer of 2007 Masilela moved to the Israeli first division club Maccabi Haifa , for whom he has since acted as a regular in the left-back position. With Haifa he won the league cup in 2008 and the Israeli championship in 2009 . After a year on loan in Madrid , he moved back to his home country, to the Kaizer Chiefs .

Masilela took part in the 2006 African Cup of Nations as a second division player without a previous international appearance and made his debut in the final group game against Zambia (0: 1). Masilela was also part of the squad two years later at the African Cup of Nations in 2008 and was used in all three games in the disappointing preliminary round. At the Confederations Cup 2009 he was also part of the regular staff under coach Joel Santana and formed the defensive line-up together with Matthew Booth , Aaron Mokoena and Siboniso Gaxa during the tournament .
