Tsinghua Tongfang ( Chinese 清華 同 方 / 清华 同 方 , Pinyin Qīnghuá tóngfāng ) is a Chinese company based in Beijing . It is a spin-off from Tsinghua University or its Tsinghua Holdings. Since 1997, the company has been led by university professor Lu Zhicheng.
As a conglomerate, the company operates in the fields of computer technology, digital media, internet, energy, nuclear technology and biomedicine. 50.4 percent of the company is held by Tsinghua Holdings (Beijing Tsinghua University Enterprise Group). On June 27, 1997, the company went public in Shanghai. 2003 sales were 6.7 billion yuan .
The company has also been producing LED chips since 2010 .
The group produces (as of 2013) 10 million LC displays per year. Sharp in particular is named as the main customer .
