Tsolwana was a municipality ( Local Municipality ) of the Chris Hani District , Eastern Cape Province in South Africa . 33,281 inhabitants lived in an area of ​​6,025 km² (as of 2011). The seat of the municipal administration was Tarkastad .

The community name is an isiXhosa term for "something with a sharp end or point". He is referring to the mountains that surround the community, they have such peaks.

In 2016 the parish was merged with the parishes of Inkwanca and Lukhanji to form the parish of Enoch Mgijima .
