The Tsomoriri (also Tso Moriri ) is a lake in the Indian Union Territory of Ladakh .
The lake is located in the east of Ladakh at an altitude of 4522 m with an area of approx. 145.3 km². It is flanked in the east and west by mountain ridges over 6000 m high. The Tsomoriri has two main tributaries that flow into the lake in the north and south-west. Originally the water of the Tsomoriri flowed south to the Parechu , a left tributary of the Spiti in the catchment area of the Satluj . Today the Tsomoriri forms an outflow-free lake. Due to the lack of runoff, the lake is slightly salty. The lake is oligotrophic , which means that it has a low nutrient content. The settlement of Korzok is located on the western shore of the lake . This can be reached via a road from the village of Mahe in the upper Indus Valley .
Since August 19, 2002, the body of water and its bank area have had the protection status of a Ramsar area .
