Tunisians

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

All citizens or members of the titular nation of the Tunisian Republic are commonly referred to as Tunisians .

In the past, in Tunisia, as in the rest of the Maghreb, the culture of the immigrant Arabs was mixed with that of the long-established Berbers . Today the Tunisians speak mostly Arabic , only a few Berber varieties.

Tunisians are mainly Sunni Muslims from the Maliki school of law (98% today).

The Tunisian dialect of Arabic , Tunisian-Arabic , belongs genetically and typologically just like the Arabic varieties of Morocco and Algeria and Maltese to Maghrebian-Arabic and differs considerably from standard Arabic, which also functions as the official language in Tunisia.

citizenship

According to Tunisian law, Tunisians cannot "lose" their citizenship, which is why cases of multiple citizenship regularly occur .
