The Tunnel de Marseille is a tunnel on the LGV Méditerranée high-speed line in the French city of Marseille . With a length of 7,834 m, it is (as of 2012) the longest continuous tunnel on French soil.
The Tunnel de Marseille consists of four individual structures, the “Tunnel de Pennes-Mirabeau”, the “Covering Bellepeire”, the “Tunnel de Marseille” and the “Covering Saint-André”. These structures have a total length of 7834 m and are known as the Tunnel de Marseille. The coverings were carried out using the open construction method and later backfilled.
After the tunnel, the line reaches the old Paris – Marseille line , later the Marseille-Saint-Charles station . The maximum permissible speed is 160 km / h.
