Turba Philosophorum
The Turba Philosophorum - also known as the Assembly of Philosophers - is one of the oldest Latin texts of alchemy .
It is believed that it was written before the twelfth century. The probably Arabic original with the titleمصحف الجماعة / Muṣḥaf al-ǧamāʿa / 'Book of the Assembly' was written around 900 and only partially preserved. Latin versions emerged from the 13th century.
It deals with the key alchemical terms in 72 Dicta (pl. From Dictum, Latin statement ) and was quoted by many later writings.
It appeared as the first print edition in Artis Auriferae , quam chemiam vocant, antiquissimi authores, sive Turba philosophorum in 1572 (by the printer Pietro Perna ).
