The Turbinenplatz is the largest square in the city Zurich and located in the Escher-Wyss-quarters in Kreis 5 . The original owner of the site, Sulzer Immobilen AG , had the site designed by ADR Sàrl, Geneva, and donated the completed site to the city of Zurich in 2003.

It is around 14,000 square meters and has a concrete floor . This flooring was chosen by the builders to remind of the industrial past of the Escher-Wyss-Quartier , as many industrial areas also have a concrete floor. The place was planted with a number of birches . The rainwater is channeled through special cast iron rails into the planted drainage basins. At night the square is illuminated in blue, orange and purple.

Puls 5 , the Technopark , three hotels belonging to the French Accor group and the rear annex of the shipbuilding side stage of the Zurich theater are located around Turbinenplatz .
