Turgut Haci Zeyrek

Turgut Haci Zeyrek (* 1967 ) is a Turkish classical archaeologist .

Life

Zeyrek studied Classical Archeology at Istanbul University from 1984 to 1988 . From 1990 to 1994 Zeyrek worked as an archaeologist at the Museum of Bursa , and later at the Museum of Bodrum . Since 1994 he has taught as a research assistant at the University of Istanbul and was active in the excavations of Perge . In 2002, Haluk Abbasoğlu did his doctorate with a thesis on "Perge Doğu Konut Alanı / Houses by Perge". In 2006 he was appointed lecturer in Istanbul. From 2007 to 2012 he was professor of Classical Archeology at the University of Gaziantep , was appointed professor there in 2012 and has been professor at Karadeniz Teknik Üniversitesi in Trabzon since September 20, 2012 .

Since 2009 he has been leading the excavations in Hierapolis Kastabala near Osmaniye in Cilicia . In addition, he primarily deals with the archeology of Kommagene , but also with archeology in the area of ​​the Black Sea coast of Turkey.
