Turksat-3usat is a Turkish Technologieerprobungs- and amateur radio satellite , which from the Istanbul Technical University was developed and built.

Structure and payload

TurkSat-3USat is a 3U size Cubesat . The satellite carries a payload of a redundant design VHF / UHF - linear transponder for amateur radio voice communication, a camera and a simple attitude stabilization system.

There is also a system on board for targeted braking of the satellite at the end of its service life. Two membranes are then rolled out to increase air friction in the thin atmosphere and make the satellite lose altitude more quickly.

Mission history

TurkSat-3USat was launched together with Gaofen 1 and the secondary payloads CubeBug-1 and NEE-01 Pegaso on April 26, 2013 with a Langer Marsch 2 D from the Jiuquan Cosmodrome .
