Tutl ( proper spelling : TUTL ; full name: Tutl International or Tutl Records ) is the leading music label in the Faroe Islands . The head of the company is the composer and musician Kristian Blak . Tutl was founded in 1977 and is based in the capital Tórshavn .

The term Tutl is Faroese and means “whispering, murmuring”.

The internationally most famous musicians are, besides Blak himself, among others the singer Eivør Pálsdóttir , the songwriter Høgni Lisberg , the Viking metal group Týr and the punk band Tveyhundrað . Also Teitur Lassen has its roots here.

Typical of the Faroese music scene is their reference to the centuries-old Faroese ballads , but also to the psalms of Thomas Kingo . While Faroese literature and Faroese visual arts dominated in the 19th and especially in the 20th century , modern music has been able to establish itself beyond the borders of the Faroe Islands since the 1980s.

Some foreign musicians are also published by Tutl, for example in 2005 the album Hit Below The Belt by the Sundiver group from St. Gallen, Switzerland .
